National & International Roles

Prof. Erhabor served twice as Head of the Department of Internal Medicine at Obafemi Awolowo University (Acting Head 1999–2003; Substantive Head 2006–2009), earning a Letter of Outstanding Performance from the Vice-Chancellor.

  • One of the pioneering founders of the Pan-African Thoracic Society.
  • Immediate Past President of the Nigerian Thoracic Society.
  • Chair of the first-ever National Asthma Guideline Committee.
  • Former Chairman of STOP TB Nigeria.
  • Vice-Chair of the Chronic Lung Disease Division of the IUATLD, Paris.

West African Sub-region

He was the pioneer Head of the Pulmonology Division of the West African College of Physicians (WACP), helping draft the current curriculum for respiratory-medicine residency across West Africa. He is a Faculty Member, the immediate Past Chief Examiner, and current Internal Assessor of the Faculty of Internal Medicine.

  • Member, Governing Council, Benson Idahosa University.

Memberships

He is the current Global Governor of the American College of Chest Physicians, having previously served as the first International Regent for six years. He is an active member of the ACCP, the British Thoracic Society, the European Respiratory Society, the Nigerian Thoracic Society, and the MDCAN.
